an intro
Hi
This is just a kind of post to get the ball rolling... If you’re reading this you already know who I am, and so I don’t really need an introduction. I am trying to get out of twitter and develop better outlets for what I use it for, and this is one attempt at that. Hopefully, this will allow me to expand on ideas better than twitter does, and to do so without worrying about all the kinds of people that might read it on twitter. I also intend to start writing poems again and am always worried my poems are boring or irritate my twitter followers. Once again, terrible website..
I guess this is also a way for me to try and negotiate between hating academia and the media industry, but also being very good at academic work and instinctively drawn to writing as an activity. I’m not really sure how I feel about those impulses. Perhaps we can still hope, one day, for a society
where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he [sic] wishes, [where] society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic. And with that first, incredibly pretentious and cliché, quotation from Marx, I guess this is a good point to stop at.
I hope to share something with you soon. This should be fun!
